At iSTAM, we recommend a backup printer be installed on the network, when printing is a critical part of business activities or directly affects the revenue stream. While most printer issues can be resolved within a few moments, it still depends on each business’s needs. When color printing is required and therefore a color printer is installed it can serve as the backup until the primary black and white printer is back on line.

Printing abuse is limited by area accountability since everyone can potentially know what everyone else in the area is printing. Many large workload printers can track and produce logs of individual jobs, where smaller desktop printers usually do not.

The toner and supplies required to keep the printer(s) running are limited to one or two models, reducing confusion and making it more cost effective to keep those supplies on hand.
